New Hotel Room

Things just get better and better on this trip...
After a trip through Saint Mark's Bascillica, and lunch at our new favorite restuarant, we came back to check out our new hotel room, the Salle Noir (Black Room). Check this baby out. Totally amazing, especially the Black Murano hand-made glass chandellier (about 6 feet across). These pictures do not do the room justice. It is completely opulant. There are two levels, the upstairs being the bathroom. The hotel sent up two glasses of wine to welcome us to the new room. Ryan just took the picture you see of me writing this posting.

The restaurant I was talking about above is called La Zucca (The Pumpkin). It's a vegetarian restaurant that is out of this world. It took about 30 minutes by boat to get there and then a quick walk through winding, narrow lanes. Finding our way has been challenging. Today we literally walked around the same block three times without realizing it. It seems we can't work very well without a grid system. As we were reading our map, looking extra touristy, a lady offered to walk us there. It was somewhat shocking, as you can imagine. A local, regardless of country is not going to offer to help a tourist in the heart of the tourist area... if you wander into an actual neighbourhood (like we did), it's amazing how kind people are. Below is a typical Italian salad (Caprese) but I guarantee you have never tasted one like this:

Speaking of pumpkins, my ass is looking remarkably similar to one from all of the fattening foods we've been devouring. Anyway, here are a few more pics...

Absolutely beautiful. I may want one of your photographs blown up and framed for my little house. Can we work something out?

Also, please try to steal some mini shampoos, lotions, and soaps for me. I love that shit.

Wow, what a fabulous room, and to have a glass of wine sent up, that must make you feel very special. I want to travel with you, oh wait, I have, and believe me it IS the finest.Only 6 more days left, then what are we suppose to do, maybe "get a life". This has been a real treat. Wish you had done this on the Baltic Cruise, or not! XO Mom

ps. at least now you know what to do to your bedroom now if you ever redecorate with 'sleeping in' in mind...
